About the Programme to Promote Environmental Technologies
The Environmental Technologies Support Programme in the Czech Republic (hereinafter the Programme) was prepared pursuant to the Communication from the Commission entitled Report on the Implementation of the Action Plan to Promote Environmental Technologies in 2004
, dated 27 January 2005, which recommended that member states adopt national programmes to implement the Environmental Technologies Action Plan (ETAP). The Government approved the Programme by Government Resolution No 181 of 22 February 2006.
The aim of the ETAP is to remove obstacles in developing and introducing environmental technologies, to ensure that the European Union becomes a leading power in developing and introducing environmental technologies and to mobilize all stakeholders during implementation. The main effort is to use the technological potential to reduce pressure on natural resources, improve the quality of Europeans’ standard of living and stimulate economic growth. The development of environmental technologies can help accomplish the sustainable development principle and become the main source of economic growth and social development in compliance with sustainable development principles.
The Programme’s objective is to coordinate environmental technologies support that would be manifested by specific measures in individual branch policies and programmes and to ensure relevant steps towards implementing the ETAP. The Programme wants to take the maximum advantage of the potential that offers expansion and the use of environmental technologies in order to reduce environmental load, improve the quality of life and promote economic growth.
