EE&A and the Public
The Right to Know - In the Czech Republic, as well as in other democratic countries, there are two main ways for the authorities to keep the public informed:
- by ensuring that citizens receive an answer from the authority being questioned,
- by stand-alone information and publication activities of the authorities.

How to dispose of aluminium?
As consumers, we are in contact with aluminium every day. The packaging of drinks and processed cheese, covers of yoghurt pots, chocolate wrapping and many others are include aluminium. Where to put them if we want to sort waste?
The company Alutherm from Mníšek pod Brdy is one of the companies that collects and recycles s aluminium waste in the Czech Republic.
Aluminium waste can also be brought to any collecting depot or yard.
In addition, you can also bring it to Eko Metalrecycling Rýmařov’s scrap yard, which also has scrap-yards in Hlinsko, Uherské Hradiště, Olomouc, Prague, Kolín, Hodonín, Otrokovice or Zlín. Eko Metalrecycling buys aluminium foil for 6 CZK /kg. Aluminium can also be sent by mail and the money will be sent to the return address.
Other companies include: Severočeské sběrné suroviny and Kovošrot Praha, whose collecting depots can be found in many cities within their respective regions. The company Středočeské sběrné suroviny even organises a competition in the collection of secondary materials for schools.
Collecting depots, as well as some other companies, will not buy aluminium from you, but you can leave it to them for processing. A container intended directly for aluminium is available at Toulcův Dvůr, The University of Economics in Prague, The Ministry of the Environment in Prague or at The Municipal Library in Havířov.
Despite the possibility to leave aluminium waste at appropriate collecting points, it is best to avoid aluminium packaging and favour other types of packaging. This is particularly true for drink packaging where many options are available.
